It’s Coming : La 3e Kamera

October 2024 will see the publication of my new graphic novel : La 3e Kamera.

Two years in the making, the 152 pages book will be published in French speaking European countries (a little later in Quebec).

With a scenario by Cedric Apikian (La ballade du soldat Odawaa with Christian Rossi) and added colour by Elise Follin, La 3e Kamera is a fiction (not a documentary like La Bombe) set during the fall of Berlin at the end of WWII.

When History Unfolds Before Our Eyes: A Look Back at the Reporters of the Third Reich

1945, in Berlin under Allied occupation. During the Second World War, more than 700 soldiers, cameras in hand, fed the Reich’s propaganda. These “Propaganda Kompanien”, German war reporters under the orders of Goebbels, were in the habit of using two official cameras. However, some had equipped themselves with a third clandestine camera, beyond all control: the famous 3rd “Kamera”. This is the case of Lieutenant Frentz, mandated to follow the Führer in person! In the ruined capital, a frantic race against time begins to recover these photos. In view of the Nuremberg trials, the famous 3rd “Kamera” which documented the crimes committed by the regime will become a strategic issue for the American soldiers of the CIC (Counter Intelligence Corps)! This type of device can reveal the faces of SS officers but also provide irrefutable proof of the atrocities committed in the camps. But what other secrets could Frentz’s camera still reveal?
After the success of La Bombe – a book translated to date into 18 languages and sold over 155,000 copies in France – Denis Rodier teams up with screenwriter Cédric Apikian for a powerful fictional story, based on historical facts. By plunging us with striking realism into the hell of war, the authors revisit the existence of these soldier-photographers and ask themselves: were they all allies with the cause of the regime? The graphic novel is accompanied by a detailed historical document.

More details coming soon such as the covers for the different editions of the book (4 of them!)

Cheers,

Denis
