Fair Trade Music Take 2

Things are moving fast and furious in the Specimen13 camp.
We’re still in the process of CD cover creation, T-Shirt production, website tweaks, paperwork, etc., etc. Hard work, but hardly a fun subject for a blog post.
So again this time, I’ll mention a few interesting events happening in the “S13 Friends” section.
A little while ago, I wrote a blog post about Lee Fletcher and his PledgeMusic drive to finance his next project. You’ll be glad to know that Lee’s drive went way past it’s initial goal at 162% of target. Let me remind you that 10% of that extra 62% (I know, math is difficult for me too) will go to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Something to think about if you have yet to pledge.
And now, a group of my favourite people (and favourite musicians) have their own drive. So you can now help Stick Men make the music you love. The guys have been on the road for a while, touring with Dream Theatre and now they’re ready to record a new CD.
Here’s a quote:
“The special deluxe edition of our next album ‘Deep’ will include 5.1 surround-sound mixes, live video, bonus audio, and elaborate packaging that goes way beyond anything we’ve produced before. Plus, of course, the CD of some very special new music! We’re keen to offer the highest quality possible, so we’re turning to our fans to assist with the inevitable funding required for mixes, mastering, DVD authoring, artwork and packaging. 5% of any money raised after that will go to O+ Festival.”
To top it off, Tony Levin himself has set up his own Kickstarter campaign to help production of a very special, interactive, new edition of his classic photo book: “The Crimson Chronicles”. The book will be initially released for the iPad and it will be followed by an iPhone/iPod Touch version.
Quoting Tony’s page: ““CRIMSON Chronicles” is a very special photo book, shot from a vantage point nobody else has – that of the bass player onstage with the band. This book features the early years of the King Crimson’s incarnation with Robert Fripp, Bill Bruford, Adrian Belew, and Tony Levin starting with writing the groundbreaking Discipline album, and it chronicles life on the road, backstage, rehearsals, composition and more… a real treat for any King Crimson enthusiast and anybody that wants an in depth, yet humorous look at behind the scenes of a rock band.
Again, look and listen. After all, we have Fair Trade Coffee, how about Fair Trade Music?
