Maelstrom has been on hold for a while, but this is a brand new start! Here’s what happened on the way to 2016.
For those who have been waiting for a new Maelstrom page, you probably have noticed there was some delay. Don’t you worry, there’s a new one slated to be published in the next few days.
In the meantime, here’s (another) reason why the rhythm has slowed downed a bit.
Huzzah! Croquis, my sketchbook going to press as I type this! After all this time and all this work, I must say that I’m real proud of the result.
At last, the first batch of artwork has been sent to the printer.
Man, what’s a year it’s been!
I won’t bother you with the oft related highs and lows of 2013, you’ve read all about it here, but it’s difficult not to look back and be amazed at the generous response to the S13 graphic novel related Kickstarter campaign. It appears that there’s only a 13% success rate in this price bracket. I may have hesitated if I’d known that beforehand.
December already?!? Being so immersed in work makes one forget time and place. Last summer, when preparation for the Kickstarter campaign began, Christmas seemed so far away…

One last burst of energy is needed get to that Kickstarter goal! Then, the Specimen13 / Maelstrom project is one more step towards being a reality!
Here we are, midway through our Specimen13 related graphic novel Kickstarter campaign. From this end, it’s a LOT of work, but getting so much positive feedback really makes up for it.
Man, this week has been one hell of a whirlwind!
A Kickstarter campaign is a LOT of work, guys, and not everything can be foreseen even if you have prepared well in advance. Crowdfunding is a new way of doing things and it’s a learning process for everybody; there are a lot of adjustments to be made on the fly and there are those “D’Oh!” moments.
