The action picks up. More panels per page, more suspense… and more stuff to draw.
And more reference needed. But let’s start with the thumbnail sketches.
In the binder, a tighter version in half-letter size
Which was redone on tabloid size paper in light blue and printed on tabloid size board for inking. I rarely pencil directly on board as it sometimes gets rather messy; printing it gives me a cleaner surface to ink on.
Of course, in preparation, I gathered some reference and inspiration pictures. This one for instance (I love Bruegel)…
Not shown much on the page, but in my mind, it needed a little bit of mood…
Next, find a proper house…
(I read this was an abandoned house in Russia and yay, there’s a credit to be attached to this pic, but man, is it small!)
And the inside decoration…
And how I put it all together…
And how I inked the final…
